Kaety Stamati Theocharous

Kaety was born in Nicosia, Cyprus, in 1939 and has won numerous competitions in photography. She has graduated from The Pancyprian Gymnasium, a historic school, in 1957, and focused on public relations and journalism thereafter. She worked for Action Public Relations for 23 years during which time she developed her skill and for photography, having also served on the Board of the Cyprus Photographic Society. 

 

Her passion for photography led to having won several prizes over the years. She won an award of the Gold Prize of the Commonwealth competition in 1987. Her work has been published in local and foreign magazines and newspapers. Married with two children, Kaety also pursued other interests, such as her participation in friends of cars associations at Board membership level. In 1997 Kaety won First Prize at the classical cars World Rally PHILPA in Greece, as co-driver whilst the driver was Ersi Economidou.

 

This online exhibition 'Cyprus of Yesterday' presents Kaety’s photographic work which captures life in Cyprus from the 1970s until the 1990s. Most importantly, the artist’s aesthetic value and originality of content, promises to enthuse the visitor.
